I hope you are doing well! I know I'm a day late, but have been so exhausted and felt like I was getting sick this week, so haven't had the energy to do much. I even took a nap on Monday afternoon because I couldn't stay awake. I went to Wisconsin last weekend, and I had a great time, but it was exhausting! I traveled for 10 hours on Friday because my flight ended up having to land in Chicago instead of Milwaukee because the plane that landed before us lost its landing gear, so it was stuck on the runway. Fortunately, everyone was ok. So, I had to find my way up Milwaukee from Chicago, and my Mom came and picked me up at 1:00am from Racine. It was an interesting experience.
Anyway, I don't know about you, but this fall weather has me wanting to eat more comfort foods. I think it has something with it getting darker earlier because it still gets pretty hot here during the day.
Many people think that when you eat clean, you will be eating bland and boring foods or eating salads all of the time. Or that you will have to give up your favorite foods. That is not true. Eating clean just means that you will be eating foods that aren't processed, artificial, or contain ingredients that you can't pronounce. These foods are toxic to the body and cause poor digestion, bloating, IBS symptoms, poor energy, weight gain, and other health issues. Eating unprocessed, whole foods will leave you feeling lighter, improve your digestion (including bloating and other IBS symptoms), give you more energy, and help you to lose excess weight.
Today, I wanted to share a clean recipe for protein pancakes. I absolutely love pancakes! Other pancakes, even when they're made with gluten free flour, make me feel bloated and weighed down. These don't! And, I promise they taste just as good as regular pancakes. This is one of the recipes that is in my Get Your Body Back Program, and also will be in a 2 week program I have coming up in November.
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Protein)
1 egg or 1/4 cup egg whites
1/2 banana mashed
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp ground flax meal
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter into a pan that has been sprayed with olive oil cooking spray or coconut oil on medium . Cook one side until you see the little bubbles, just like regular pancakes. Flip over carefully, and cook on the other side until the middle is done. Feel free to add fresh or frozen blueberries after you've mixed the other ingredients together.
