How to sustain smoother, more radiant, and youthful skin

I hope you had a great weekend! I went to Mexico for my first time since I moved here. It was a lot of fun, except for the 4 hours it took us to cross the border on the way home. We had a nice, relaxing time. We went to the spa in the morning and then spent most of the day at the beach. Since it is summer and a lot of people spend a lot of time outside this time of year, I thought discussing skin would be appropriate. I tend to spend quite a bit of time in the sun. I am not always as good about using sunscreen as I should be, but did just buy some Alba sunscreen before my trip to Mexico. Protecting yourself from the sun is one way to maintain youthful skin, but there are many other things you can do such as:
Drink plenty of water. This will help keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Most people need 25-35 mL per kg of body weight (weight in pounds/2.2). So, if you weigh 125 pounds: 125/2.2 = 56.8×25-35=1420-1988mL, which converts to 48-66 oz (there are 30 mL in 1 ounce). This comes out to be 6-8 cups per day since there are 8 oz in a cup.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. This is where you are going to get the majority of your antioxidants, which protect your skin against free-radicals, which can cause age spots and wrinkling. Make sure you are eating a variety of colors, and aim for at least 5 servings per day. A serving is generally 1/2 cup, except for leafy greens, which a serving is equal to 1 cup. If you have a difficult time eating enough, try making a smoothie, and add some spinach/other greens and berries to it.
Make sure you are getting adequate Essential Fatty Acids in your diet as they promote healthy, youthful skin and hair, and inadequate intake of Essential Fatty Acids can lead to skin disorders and dry, scaly skin. Essential Fatty Acids are found in foods such as nuts, seeds, olive oil and fish. It may also be beneficial to take an Omega Fatty Acid Supplement. You can take fish oil, or if you are a vegetarian, you can take Flax Oil or Evening Primrose Oil.
Look at what you are using to wash your skin, and what you are putting on your skin. A lot of cleansers contain harsh chemicals and alcohol, which can speed up the aging process. If you aren’t already, you may want to consider using natural skincare products. ff your skin feels tight after you wash it, then it is probably too harsh for your skin. Also look at your moisturizer and anything else that you put on your face. I put fractionated coconut oil with a drop of tea tree oil and frankincense mixed in it everyday and also use fractionated coconut oil as my body lotion. My skin has never felt better.
Consider using essential oils. Essential oils improve skin issues safely without preservatives, chemicals or harsh ingredients. Some essential oils that are beneficial for the skin are:
Frankincense – reduces the appearance of blemishes and rejuvenates the skin
Lavender – reduces the appearance of skin imperfections
Helichrysum – is used to help relieve skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes, promotes a glowing, youthful complexion and improves the appearance of skin.
Melaleuca - is great for acne.
