How to turn things around when you're feeling gross

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are enjoying your week so far and had a great weekend! I had a good weekend, although I was sad to see the Packers lose on Sunday, but they had a good season. I'm looking forward to doing some things outside this weekend since it's finally stopped raining. This has definitely been a very cold and rainy winter for San Diego. Speaking of winter, this is the time of the year when I hear a lot of people complain of feeling "gross" or "bloated" or "fat", etc. I know I have felt that way before and still do sometimes when I have been eating foods that I know aren't right for my body. What about you? Do you ever feel that way? And, if you do, what have you tried to do to make yourself feel better? Has it worked? I know it can be confusing with all of the diet books out there, all of which seem to contradict each other. Are you overwhelmed by the large amount of information related to healthy eating and healthy living? Do you feel like throwing your hands up in the air and saying, “I GIVE UP!” I hear you. For a long time, I struggled to figure out what I should be eating in order to live at my very best. I was confused and overwhelmed by the hundreds of dietary theories out there, all of which promised the world, but none of which seemed to work for me. I can't even tell you how many different diets I've tried. During my studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I learned that there is no one diet that works for everyone and that each of our bodies is unique. I discovered that the best way to get a clean slate and get your energy back, resolve your digestive problems, get rid of the bloat and weight that won't budge, etc, is to do a detox. What is a detox? A detox focuses on releasing toxins from the body, sometimes from specific organs and/or the blood stream. By doing a detox, you are giving your organs a break, allowing them to operate more efficiently, and removing toxins that cause inflammation in the body. Why detox? Every day we are bombarded with toxins. Toxins are found in the air we breathe, the foods we eat, chemicals in the water, pollutants, pesticides, household cleansers, and beauty products (including makeup, lotions, shampoo, hair dyes and perfumes). Toxins enter the bloodstream, and the liver works hard to detoxify the body of these harmful substances. When the liver becomes overworked and sluggish, all the detoxification pathways suffer, and your health suffers. The benefits of detoxifying are myriad:
Lose unwanted weight and bloat
Release stored fat
Renew your cells
Reduce inflammation
Improve your digestion
Boost your immune system
Have a stronger sex drive
Have clearer skin
Reduce cellulite
Sleep well
Access the energy your body needs to keep you healthy and restore your vital qi
Basically, a detox helps you to restore your body so that you can be more in balance and start hearing what your body has to say to you. Are you ready to tap into your body’s wisdom, learn which foods work for YOUR unique body, and refresh your system? Join me for my 5 Day Winter Cleanse by clicking here. This is a group cleanse and will be held February 6-10. The last day to sign up is next Thursday, February 2nd. I know detox sounds like a scary word, especially if you've never tried one before. That is why I offer this one for only 5 days. It is also a more liberal cleanse and based on whole foods, not powders, drinks, or pills. If you are looking for a longer cleanse or trying to discover if you have any food intolerances, I also offer a longer 14 Day Cleanse. You can click here to read more about my 14 Day Cleanse. See you there! Can’t wait to support you in this process!
