Discover your unique body blueprint

I'm still going strong on my cleanse. It's been a little more of a liberal cleanse than I normally do since I'm doing it for a whole month this time. I'm allowing myself to have coffee on this cleanse - mostly because I didn't take the time to gradually cut down on it, and it always takes a lot of time for me to get used to not drinking it. I also really like coffee, and didn't really want to give it up. I'm still testing recipes from my summer cleanse, which will be launching soon. For more information on my cleanses, click here. If you want to see pics of these recipes, you can follow me on Facebook by clicking here or on Instagram by clicking here. Speaking of my cleanse, it is set up like an elimination diet. Have you ever thought that you may have a food intolerance or that there is a certain food that just doesn't agree with you? You may have digestive problems. Or maybe you are really struggling to lose weight or can't seem to get clear skin no matter what you do. These are all signs that you may be eating something that doesn't agree with you. Everyone is different, and if you ever are going to feel your best, you need to discover YOUR body blueprint. Following an elimination diet is the best way to do that. How does an elimination diet work?

In the elimination diet, you start by eliminating common food allergens. You dial down your daily meals and snacks so that you are only eating real, nourishing foods that will not hurt your gut. The categories of food to eliminate are:

  • Grains – The foundation of the Food Pyramid for decades, it has now been discovered that many people have a hard time digesting grains, including corn.

  • Processed Foods – There are many toxic chemicals (like MSG, artificial colors, and flavorings) and other undesirable ingredients (like GMOs, trans fats, and HFCS) in processed food that can impede digestion and even cause disease.

  • High Glycemic Foods – Large amounts of starches and added sugars can feed a bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and other gut dysbiosis problems.

  • Gluten and Fructans – Found in many grains, gluten has been found to be one of the causes of leaky gut syndrome and autoimmune diseases. Fructans are found in FODMAPS (short-chain carbohydrates) and can also feed those bad bugs in your gut.

  • Unrefined Oils – These can cause inflammation throughout your body.

  • Feedlot Meats and Dairy – Meats and dairy from the conventional food system are full of hormones, antibiotics, and even poisons such as arsenic.

  • Eggs, Peanuts, and Shellfish – All are common food allergens.

  • Gut Irritants – Caffeine and alcohol can wreak havoc on your gut. Avoid these while you are healing.

The foods are eliminated for a certain period of time and then reintroduced in a way meant to uncover any foods that may be causing issues. Now, of course, all elimination diets aren't that restricted. If someone has really serious problems with their gut, they may need to eliminate all of these foods. If someone is struggling to lose weight, has skin issues, feels "foggy", is tired all of the time, etc., they may just need to eliminate some of these foods for a short period of time until they discover which ones are preventing them from feeling their best.

I work with people one-on-one to help them uncover which foods and habits don't serve them anymore, and then I help them replace them with foods and habits that nourish them, give them energy, and help them feel their best - this is your body blueprint.
